ATD Detroit's own VP of Marketing Karen Gates wants to share her experience with the Disney Institute program. Her words are below:
Many years ago, I attended a Disney event in Orlando which included many of the topics that will be incorporated in the one-day ATD event on October 17th.
I heard a number of positive comments about the event prior to attending, including how they will provide information that could transform an organization. My expectations were high, and the time spent at Disney exceeded my expectations. It not only provided the information promised but also inspired me to use it.
Their take on leadership, customer service (including who are the real customers), culture and recruitment, absolutely blew me away. I immediately went back to my organization to champion change. I used Disney's teachings of treating employees as "internal customers" to champion the renovation and restructuring of work areas. Disney taught me to view employees the same as we would our external customers, and to look for ways to increase our organizational members' work satisfaction.
This is an event you do not want to miss. The knowledge you will gain from the Disney Institute will be invaluable to you and your organization. I hope to see you all there!
