While many folks are jumping onto the AI “bandwagon,” Margie Meacham has been building educational chatbots for clients since 2013. She has spoken at professional events around the world, explaining how modern chatbots deliver scalable adaptive learning experiences using machine learning and generative AI.

    • Her book, “AI and Talent Development,” was published by ATD Press in 2020, and continues to be one of the highest rated publications on this subject on Amazon.
    • She developed the adaptive learning “consultant” for the United Nations, “Blu,” which won the Tech & Learning Excellence Award in 2022.
    • Her AI and Data Science course, designed for a major Financial Services client, won the Brandon Hall award for custom content in 2021.
    • She trains the talent development teams of the U.S. Armed Forces on AI and Emerging Technologies.
    • Two projects she’s working on now are an Adaptive Learning with A course for LinkedIn Learning and an on demand course for ATD called “AI and Emerging Technologies.”

Margie offers her own masterclass, “AI for Talent Professionals”, which prepares knowledge workers to use AI to enhance their own productivity by gaining workflow efficiencies. Margie is a featured writer for the ATD Science of Learning blog, and served as an advisor on the 2023 ATD Research Report, “AI in Learning and Talent Development: Embracing Its Future Potential in the Workplace.” She also wrote the AI section for the new release of ATD’s Talent Development Body of Knowledge (TDBoK).

    Key Takeaways:
    • Explain how generative AI models work
    • Create effective prompts in three steps
    • Use generative AI to streamline content creation, including text, audio tracks and videos

        What's a SIG?

Special Interest Groups (SIGs) are small groups of members who share an affinity for a particular aspect of Talent Development. Whether it's a specific approach, a certain skill, or a common role in the industry, a SIG helps bring chapter members together to share in an interest.

Anyone can start a SIG - all it takes is a shared interest and a meeting place! To learn more, contact the Chapter President, president@detroitatd.org.

Topic: This month we will practice telling stories.

Come hang out with a SIG focused entirely on Storytelling!

The Storytelling Special Interest Group is dedicated to helping members hone their storytelling skills, develop critical leadership skills related to communication, and help members bring storytelling to their organizations. In addition, the group aims to build relationships with one another through sharing stories and have fun.

In a typical meeting, participants will practice sharing stories and giving feedback to one another while focusing on a particular aspect of storytelling.

For more information about the Storytelling SIG or the upcoming Meet-up, contact SIG Organizer Sarah Maier:  sarah.emily.maier@gmail.com

Note: SIGs are designed for ATD Detroit and other local Chapter Members only.
