In addition, the group aims to build relationships with one another through sharing stories and have fun. 

    In a typical meeting, participants will practice sharing stories and giving feedback to one another while focusing on a particular aspect of storytelling.

    7th Annual Top Trainer Throwdown All-Star Edition

    Who will win the title of Top Trainer All Star? 

    Please join us for the 7th edition of the Top Trainer Throwdown!  These previous Top Trainer Throwdown winners have set aside time from their busy schedules to “bring it” again. You don't want to miss this night of presentations on leadership and/or coaching best practices. Come for an experience to enhance your toolkit with techniques, tools, and methods to use in your profession and/or share in your workplace with others in talent development.

    Plan to laugh, be inspired, and have fun with your hosts for the evening Michael Jacobson (2018 Top Trainer Throwdown Winner), Michael Haynes (2019 President Elect) and the Top Trainer Throwdown All-Stars all while learning some great lessons along the way.  You do not want to miss this opportunity to witness some of ATD Detroit’s finest in action.

    We want to thank our previous winners for accepting the challenge to compete again in the ATD Detroit’s 7th Annual Top Trainer Throwdown signature event.  Competitors will have 15 minutes to prove their stuff and take away the title again as the 2019 Top Trainer All Star. You decide the winner! 

    This Year's All- Star Competitors and Topics:

    Barbara Boldt – You Never Get a Second Chance to Make a First Impression

    Introducing ourselves is something we do on autopilot. The consequence is that we may not be making the impression we want or need to make. Gain an understanding of introduction perspectives and receive tips on staying consciously aware of the impressions you make.


    Barbara’s 2013 win for Intercultural Competence: Do or DIE made her the first winner of the TTT competition.


    Anne- Apking – The Many Dimensions of a Coach

    Coaches wear many hats such as Teacher, Trainer, Mentor, Advisor, and Motivator. Learn how someone in the role of “coach” knows when and how to fulfill all of these responsibilities.


    Anne’s 2014 win for “Making Learning Memorable” kept the TTT competition going.


    Jay Johnson – Behave Yourself: Behavioral Intelligence as an Emerging Framework for Leadership Success

    How a person acts and reacts to scenarios they face, defines their success in a leadership role. We will take a behavioral intelligence journey that will leave you with powerful insights on productive leadership behaviors.

    Jay’s presentation entitled “Fighting the Fleeting: Remarkable First Impressions” earned him the 2017 TTT title.


    April Callis Birchmeier – How to Lead Positive Change at Work: Avoiding the Three Common Mistakes Most Leaders Make!

    Leadership is more than a skillset; it is a mindset. Learn how to develop a positive mindset, lead positive change, and avoid some common mistakes in leadership.

     


    “Gossip Stoppers! Leading a Positive Workplace, When You're Not in Charge” makes April the 2018 reigning titleholder. 


    All runners-up will receive a complimentary dinner, a certificate, and a $25 gift card. The winner receives a complimentary dinner, $100 gift card, and a trophy.
