Program Summary

Training is effective to the extent to which learning occurs within the training. Experiential learning is a valuable for participants to internalize concepts that are dealt with during the training. Components of experiential learning can be incorporated into any kind of training, but is critical to training where participants need to learn abstract concepts.

While experiential learning helps learners to internalize concepts, it can also be very engaging as an instructional method. This program will focus on ideas around how to incorporate principles of experiential learning into the training design.

 

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session, learners will be able to: 

  • Describe the elements of experiential learning
  • Explain the benefits and limitations of experiential learning
  • Incorporate elements of experiential learning within their own training designs

About the Speaker 

Dr. Swati Karve has over 20 years of experience in teaching and training. With a Masters in Psychology and a PhD in Organizational Psychology she has worked in India and US with different companies- both for profit and non-profit as consultant, facilitator and faculty.

 

Dr. Karve serves as an Adjunct Instructor at UD Mercy, and Walsh College teaching Psychology and Management courses. In the field of training, her expertise is in designing and facilitating experiential programs in personal development, interpersonal skills, management and leadership development. She is currently designing a five day experiential leadership program for Manufacturing Leadership for the Ford Motor Company. As a Master Trainer she has been invited by ATD to design and facilitate a program in the “Essentials” series- “Managing Challenging Classroom Behaviors.

 

She writes blogs for ATD And her articles have been published in various ATD publications.  She has also authored an Infoline in August 2013 - "Planning and Organizing Training Events."

Cancellations received prior to this time/date can be 1) refunded to the credit card less a $5 processing fee or 2)transferred to the next scheduled Detroit ATD meeting date.

Refunds after this date cannot be issued, but we will gladly accept a substitution should you wish to send someone in your place.
